Alf Christian Hvaring was born in Stavanger in Norway in 1976. He has a Master´s degree in graphic artwork from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2003-2008) and works as a professional artist, specializing in both oil painting and graphic arts. His subjects are rendered in a naturalistic way, using the expressive qualities of lithography to their fullest – sharp edges and high contrast create a striking and ominous impression that lingers after you take your eyes away from the artwork. Often, Hvaring’s realistic landscapes are broken up by supernatural elements – spheres of light created with the pure white of the ground, contours of angels and consuming fires create a sense that there is more to these worlds than what initially meets the eye. Lone figures inhabit these snapshots, often with their backs facing the viewer, allowing us to picture ourselves in their place and experience the awe-inspiring mystical events all the more strongly. Alf Christian Hvaring has exhibited his art in galleries across Norway and Denmark. He is the artist behind the paintings in Pigalle in Oslo, and his art has been bought by the municipality of Mandal, Høgskolen in Oslo, Høgskolen in Hedmark and others.
